Ayrton Senna (1960 – 1994) is regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula One having won the F1 Drivers World Championship in 1988, 1990 and 1991. He was also recognised for his qualifying speed over one lap and from 1989 until 2006 held the record for most pole positions. He also holds the record for most victories at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix (6) and is the third most successful driver of all time in terms of race wins.
His distinctive helmet design originated from his early karting days in his native country of Brazil and the sight of the bright yellow helmet in a driver’s mirrors would unnerve even the most experienced of drivers. |
